Intellectual Property

Protection of our intellectual property is a strategic priority for our business. We rely on a combination of patent, copyright and other intellectual property laws, trade secrets, nondisclosure agreements and other measures to protect our proprietary rights. As of February 2008, we had 8 U. S. patent applications pending.

We believe it will take up to five years and possibly longer for these pending U.S. patent applications to result in issued patents. As of February 2008, we had 3 open international applications and 3 international applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty. The company has filed patents on significant gate-keeping features which it believes creates barriers to entry as well as, an excellent future licensing opportunity. The company will continue to invest heavily in design, component, application and manufacturing patents to protect proprietary processes used in the production of Vu1 products. We have filed trademark registration applications for the Vu1 name, mark, tag and position lines in the US and Europe.
